Jeep Sports New Sahara Model in Time for Summer

Kellie Speed

With summertime just weeks away, isn’t it time to think about getting a fun warm-weather vehicle? We recommend the 2014 Jeep Sahara, which we recently test drove.

The rugged vehicle is not only designed to handle rough New England winters like we had this past season but can be quickly transformed into a cool summer vehicle (roof and doors off, please). Inside the Sahara, are super comfortable leather seats (the front two are heated), power outlets, a center lockable console and audio input jack to connect your own device (the Alpine stereo system itself was pretty powerful).

We love the fact that every Wrangler comes with a washable interior with drain plugs so you can simply clean out any dirt stains by hosing down the interior and letting the water drain out on its own.

For beach days, just fold the seats down for extra room for storing beach chairs, a cooler and blankets. The rear area also contains a storage bin under the cargo area for added storage space. The nets on each door are designed to protect your nearby belongings. We love the new exteriorcopperhead pearl paint color of the off-road vehicle that allows you to enjoy open air freedom on the road.

This year, Jeep introduced two new special edition models to its Wrangler line, including the Rubicon X complete with wider rock rails and the Freedom edition, which donates $250 for every sale to the United Service Organizations (USO) as part of the Jeep Operation Safe Return Initiative.

The new features for the 2014 modelsinclude a Trail Kit featuring two D-rings, a tow strap, gloves and a bag to store the items. Clear park lamps and turn signal indicators replace the amber units, and Sport models can now be equipped with the Uconnect 6.5-inch touchscreen radio with hard drive storage and SiriusXM Radio. Sport models also have an available 32-inch Tire and Wheel Group featuring semi-gloss black 17-inch Rubicon aluminum wheels and BF Goodrich KM LT255/75R17 offroad tires.

We had so much fun test driving this vehicle that we will be purchasing one for some summer fun.
