JustLuxe Retro 2008: Florida Vacationers Go 'Hollywood' for Beachy Good Time!

Hollywood Florida

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce

Hollywood, Fla., is my home away from home! It is the dreamiest of sleepy beach towns located just north of Miami and south of Ft. Lauderdale. There are plenty of hotels in the area from five-star OMGs to quaint, cozy and more affordable inns.

The Broadwalk, a 2.5 mile walking strip looking out over the beach, pulls the community together. Runners, bikers, and skaters share the walkway with a steady flow of visitors and locals. It is both a social and a shopping experience unique to Hollywood Beach.

The picturesque Hollywood Beach features endless white sand and blue waters. It is easy to see how one can become mesmerized just staring out into the ocean. The town's proximity to many of Southern Florida's attractions and hot spots make it a great destination for a spectacular vacation.

In the city of Hollywood, check out Young Circle. It is a newly revamped eco-park in historic downtown Hollywood. Young Circle Park has biking and walking trails mixed in with the old and the new of town once known as the City of Circles. There are three circular routes that shoot off of Hollywood Boulevard, the main street of the community. (Know thy correct lane or forever drive in circles!)

Around the Beach
Hollywood North Beach Park is a 55-acre retreat just north of Hollywood Beach. The view from atop the park's 60-foot observation tower is astonishingly clear. There is an eco-friendly sea turtle hatchery that's part of the Endangered Sea Turtle Protection Program. It is a great place to fish, launch a kayak, have a picnic, or just park and enjoy the beach directly east.

The Hollywood Beach Country Club and Resort is a par-70 championship course that is just one mile from the beach. The Hillcrest Golf and Country Club has one of the most challenging last holes of any course. Many promising scores have been sunk here. The Orangebrook Golf and Country Club features two 18-hole courses.

Where to Stay
The Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach Resort Hotel and the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa are luxury resorts with five-star services and amenities. These are two of more upscale lodgings along the beach. The Neptune Hollywood Beach Club is a boutique hotel that offers studio, one-, and two-bedroom units for short and extended stays. Other unique boutique lodgings include the Villa Europa Hotel and the Hollywood by the Sea Bed & Breakfast.

Did you know that Hollywood, Fla., received the 2007 All-American City award? Visit www.HollywoodFlorida.org for info on places to stay and things to do.
