With East Germany's rising rent prices, West Germany is benefitting in ways that would have been hard to guess. There has been a bit of an exodus of high fashion boutiques and retailers over to West German's Kurfuestendamm, which could now be comparable to Rodeo Drive or Avenue des Champs Elysees.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) may be the next company to appear on the 4- kilometer (2.5-mile) boulevard known as Ku’damm, in the capital’s most expensive shopping district.
