Land Feet from the Fairway - Our Top 5 Golf Break Destinations

Green Monkey, Barbados

Planning a group golf trip this October? We try to make life a little easier with our Top 5 Golf Break destinations. Accessible by jet, helicopter or a combination of the two, they offer the chance to make teeing off that extra bit special.

1. Enjoy a Refreshing Round at Turnberry, Scotland

A very special course from the county that gave us the sport, Turnberry is an absolute ‘must play’ course for golfers. With a wealth of excellent holes and scenic views of the Mull of Kintyre and the Isle of Arran, Turnberry makes for a truly stunning day out. Golfers will have to have their wits about them as the holes (the 9th especially) run close to the sea, making it one of the most challenging courses worldwide - and a competitive one for a corporate day out.

We recommend chartering a private plane into Prestwick Airport and taking a private helicopter directly to the course.

2. Play with the Rich and Famous on the Sandy Lane’s Green Monkey Course, Barbados

This really is a great course to play as a group, and as such is the perfect fit for a luxury golfer. Located on the beautiful island of Barbados, this has been a favourite amongst golf’s elite for decades. With lush fairways, mature Mahogany trees and serpentine bunkers, this course will test even the finest putter.

3. Play the World’s Most Unique Ryder Cup Course at Celtic Manor, Wales

With a coalition of British and American features, the ‘Twenty Ten’ course of the Ryder Cup was born. ‘Variety’ and ‘frightening’ are the best words to describe this course: it is perhaps better suited to the thrill seeking player rather than the traditional golfer. If this is the case, the Montgomerie course (to which the Ryder Cup captain put his name) boasts pot bunkers and tricky elevated greens that offer plenty of variation.

We recommend organising a private helicopter charter to take players within putting distance of the manor before letting them loose on the course.

4. Putt on the Gorgeous Greens of the Penha Longa Course, Portugal

The picturesque course of the Penha Longa Resort sits in the beautiful region of Lisboa e Vale de Tejo in the Sintra Mountains. Unlike many others in this area, this is all about the player vs. the course. The Atlântico Course is challenging on a still day, but when the wind starts to blow across the mountains, it becomes a real test for any aspiring pro.

We recommend hiring a private jet for the perfect arrival, transporting your party in the lap of luxury and landing moments from the resort at Pires Airport.

5. Play the ‘Augusta of Europe’ at Valderrama, Spain

A favourite destination for the family golfer, Valderrama is deemed one of the greatest courses in Europe. This famous Spanish course has hosted a plethora of championships – most notably the legendary 1997 Ryder Cup where Faldo, Westwood and Montgomerie retained the trophy. For the family golfer, it’s ideal - the wildlife sanctuary provides an exotic array of plant and bird species, while the locale means that the delights of the beach are only a short drive away.

We recommend arriving in style with a private business jet. Available from any destination worldwide, make the trip feel truly special with an unforgettable experience.
