McCormick & Schmick's Offers Chance to Win Alaskan Cruise

McCormick & Schmick

Seafood restaurants are in abundance in Boston but there is only one right now that offers the chance to win a free seven day-Alaskan cruise – McCormick & Schmick’s.

To celebrate their 35th anniversary, the restaurant has also rolled out a limited edition menu and private label wine list. The special menu here features everything from Thai red curry black mussels with coconut shallot lobster cream, baby Bok Choy, shiitake mushrooms and roasted sweet peppers; Miso seared sea scallops with wild mushroom and edamame risotto and sweet chili Beurre Blanc; cedar roasted salmon with maple-whiskey glaze, summer roasted vegetables and citrus arugula salad; and pan seared Alaskan halibut with summer vegetable orzo, saffron butter and chives. The 35th anniversary celebration also includes an exclusive wine offering, including 2012 Golden Hook Monterrey County Chardonnay and 2012 Golden Hook California Red Blend. Each wine bottle is sold for $35.

We had dinner recently at the Boston Park Plaza location and were quickly greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable server named Thien. We were seated at an intimate private table that could accommodate up to six guests, which had a curtain that could be drawn for extra privacy. Thien got us started with a strong vodka martini and Sam Summer ale, which paired up nicely with a half dozen jumbo Blue Point oysters and a half dozen briny Rhode Island Beaver Tail oysters.

Our server suggested we next try the Coast to Coast Tuna and we were glad he did. A delicious combination of seared tuna arrived paired simply with layered tuna tartar and avocado. For main events, we recommend the Atlantic swordfish, a thick fresh cut served with vegetables. Land lubbers should not miss the juicy dry rubbed black Angus ribeye steak, a center cut 13-ounce piece of tender beef was cooked to a medium rare perfection served with a side of creamy horseradish sauce (be sure to add on a lobster tail to make it a tasty surf and turf combination).

Steaks are served a la carte so be sure to try the enormous creamed spinach (large enough to share for up to four guests) and the heavenly rich baked gruyere potatoes, which were even better than they sound. Be sure to save room for dessert as the molten cake should not be missed.
