There are numerous hair salons in Boston but only one deserving of a space at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Meet Mizu, a full service hair salon that offers everything from cutting edge haircuts to trend setting colors.
I recently visited the Boston location (there is a second in New York) for a single process color. One of the first things you will notice as soon as you enter the all-white space is the curved arched ceiling with chairs lining the mirrored walls of the contemporary space.
Friendly stylists greet clients in the front area and discuss face shape and styles best suited to complement their unique look. From there, they are shown to the stylist’s station, offered a drink (cappuccino, please) as the stylists get to work mixing up a personalized color. After a short amount of prep time, my hair was painted with color and left to set. When the color was rinsed out, it was a rich natural brown, just what I was looking for.
Mizu offers everything from cuts and blow drys to glazes, colors, straightening and Keratin treatments (even extensions). They also have an entire line of hair products available for sale, including Moroccan Oil, Bumble and Bumble, Oribe and Kerastase.
