Nicole Richie wore her sartorial disaster with all the right levels of presence, confidence and attitude, but no matter how well you wear a clownsuit it's going to look like a clownsuit and unfortunately for Nicole Richie, her clownsuit was hardly worthy of being called couture. The top – with a different bra, preferably one that wouldn't stick out of the sides – might have worked, but the oversized and striped clown pants killed any chance of her ensemble being suited for anything but a clown.

With a burgeoning career as a fashion designer, she is known for her chic sense of style.

But Nicole Richie made somewhat of a rare sartorial mis-step as she arrived for an appearance at entertainment TV show Extra on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old star sported an outfit of clashing patterns, with black and white baggy trousers and a sleeveless maroon top which looked rather big for her.

Her lengthy trousers draped down over her black high heeled shoes as she made her way on stage for an interview with host Mario Lopez.

The star's light brown hair was pulled into a chic bun and she teamed her clashing outfit with chunky gold bracelets. (Read More)
