On-Trend Holiday Dressing

joie a la plage Brazil Stripe Maxi Dress

Packing for a holiday is almost as exciting as the actual thing, which is probably why we often take enough clothes to last a month (many of which never leave the suitcase!). So what rules should we follow to help us buy smart and pack right for our summer travels?

Firstly think about your destination. A beach holiday, music festival, cultural city break or week in the countryside will all require different items. But let’s take a look at the on-trend pieces to take on any holiday in the sun:

Swimwear. No holiday would be complete without a bikini or two, and they’re a great base layer for any other holiday clothing. Not just for the pool, bikinis look great peeking out from underneath sheer tops and maxi dresses. On-trend patterns for this spring/summer are tropical prints such as palm trees and fruit.

Kaftan. This is a versatile piece to take you from beach to bar. Go for a matching kaftan and bikini combo or clash prints for a more individual take on the prints trend. Invest your money wisely and opt for women’s designer clothing that will last year after year, and avoid poorly made, throw away fashion.

Maxi dress. This is another piece that you can wear from day to night. Just change your accessories and shoes to transform your look. On-trend patterns for spring/summer are animal prints so look for anything from peacock prints to large cat spots in vibrant, eye popping colour. For a classic look that still looks current, opt for nautical navy and white striped jersey dresses to keep you cool in the summer heat.

Shorts. As casual daywear, shorts are a must. Go for a few different pairs, including denim and cotton. These can be interchanged with other women's designer clothing, including various cami tops and tees to create different daytime looks. Keep shorts neutral and let your tops do the talking!

Wedges. These are the on-trend shoe of the season and any colour goes. They’re the perfect footwear to pair with your maxi dress and look equally great paired with shorts and a casual tee. Just don’t forget to pack a pair of flip flops, as wedges are more suited to evenings than days on the beach.

So these are the key on-trend items you’ll need for your break in the sun. Other essential items you won’t want to forget are sunglasses, a large brimmed sun hat and that all-important sun cream!
