About Drawing Hope: Serving tens of thousands of members in 150 countries, Drawing Hope is a charitable organization that – through art – serves survivors of abuse and other life struggles.  Completely unique in their approach to drawing survivors of rape and sexual abuse out of shame, Drawing Hope helps survivors connect with their own strength, beauty, sensuality and freedom.  

The glamorous evening will focus on one of Drawing Hope’s many powerful projects,Points With Purpose.  Founded by celebrity artist David Ilan (who’s famous subjectsinclude Scarlett Johansson, David Beckham, Jerry Seinfeld), Points with Purpose uses David’s Pointillism technique, which is drawing using only dots – little dots that have changed and saved lives.  For every survivor who signs up for Points With Purpose, one, free, hand-drawn dot is placed in a portrait.  One dot equals one survivor and the dots come together to represent a survivor who feels confident, proud and beautiful.

The Heart of Hope Award: Drawing Hope International Heart of Hope Award will recognizes AnnaLynne McCord for inspiring tremendous hope in our community. AnnaLynne is a shining light for survivors of rape and sexual abuse as she open-heartedly shares the passion she feels for the healing journey they face. AnnaLynne generously gives of her time and energy to various related charities and supportive projects, and gracefully uses her notoriety to inspire survivors to help one another embrace their own strength, beauty and freedom. 

The Point of Courage Award: Drawing Hope is recognizing Laura Slade Wiggins for her daring portrayal of Karen Jackson onShameless. Survivors are usually portrayed as either broken (“let’s feel bad for her”) or as a superhero (“she learned to fight and got revenge”). Her portrayal of Karen, a more complicated character, who’s vulnerable but flawed, and not always sympathetic.

Staff for the evening will be in masquerade costume, creating a wonderfully revealing event as we remove the mask of shame and celebrate individuals who have made a difference for all of us.
