Sacrificing Safety for Speed

Browsing through the list of the most expensive cars for sale, the reoccurring theme of maximum speed can be seen from every single car there. That has led me to wonder if those of us who are buying high-end cars are sacrificing safety for a thrill ride. Otherwise, what is the point in buying a machine like an SSC SuperCar Ultimate Aero TT or a Ferrari 458 Italia? We don’t buy these cars for their safety features me buy them to go fast (unless, of course, you live in Los Angeles where the freeways never move faster than seven miles an hour) while in a car that will turn heads.

I guess the safety equivalent of those cars would be something along the lines of a tank or maybe your home. You can’t get wrapped around a telephone pole if you can’t go more than zero miles per hour, right? I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of any other reason to get cars like that, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
