Saut Hermes - An Equestrian Event of Stature

A century later horses still have their place at the Grand Palais and the Saut Hermès pays them homage every year with panache.

From 12 to 14 April the Grand Palais - again - became an equestrian arena to host the fourth edition of the Saut Hermès - a major sporting and cultural occasion initiated by Hermès, saddlers and harness makers since 1837.

Over the last three days, world's best horses and most talented riders came before their audience and made the great glass dome of the Grand Palais reverberate to the sounds of show jumping and rapturous applause.

With a programme of sporting activity at its highest level, the Saut Hermès has established itself over the years as a key event on the circuit of major international competitions.

Needless to say - the house of Hermès is delighted to celebrate the return of equestrian competitions to the very heart of the French capital where the next pages in the history of international equestrian sport will be written.

Le Trophée Hermès - The Hermès Trophy

A symbol of the union between sport and art, Déferlant (Unfurling), the trophy for the competition was conceived by the artist Christian Renonciat.

Christian Renonciat is endlessly inspired by the “fascinating mechanics” of horses, and sees them as one of nature’s most beautiful creations.

Formed by using a succession of layers to reveal the athletic physique of man’s most magnificent conquest, workshops of the Monnaie de Paris were entrusted with casting the bronze trophy.
