I'll say it flat out, I hate the dress. Givenchy's a fashion design genius, but even a genius has a bad day from time to time. My love or hate, however, has no influence over Amanda Seyfried's unrivaled mastery of haute couture. Couture like that isn't just a set of clothes you put on, it's an ensemble you have to wear, and Amanda clearly knows what she's doing. Givenchy's sheer-bottomed dress is not easy to don, but Seyfried pulled it off in style.
