Texas, the famous home of ranches, cowboys and of course the TV Series Dallas, has so many things to see, do and try. All travelers should include a trip to the Story of Texas Museum where the history gives all visitors a great starting point. Texas has many things to offer including professional sports, history such as the Alamo, and NASA's Johnson Space Center. These make Texas a must see.

 

Texas is a fascinating travel spot because of its enormous size and available activities. These activities include the Sclitterbah Waterpark located on South Padre Island and Hill Country where family fun can be had in abundance. Texas has an extensive historic background that is sure to interest all travelers. The actual size of Texas sets it apart from its neighboring states and is easily recognizable on any map. The populous of Texas is vast and diversified. They are glad to be Texans and display their state flag with great pride. Texas belonged to no one for ten years and in 1845 it was annexed by the United States. This seems to explain the independent spirit that is demonstrated by the people of Texas. The Alamo is a must see located in Alamo, Texas as it was the location of the famous Battle of the Alamo in 1836 during the Texas Revolution.

 

The cities of Texas are as varied as the people who reside there. Dallas is a great tourist attraction because of its vast opportunities and obvious link to the TV Series of the same name! The state fair is a huge event that is held in Dallas every year. It is also home to several professional sport teams such as the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and the Texas Rangers baseball team. Austin is home to the University of Texas and is widely known for its education excellence. Houston is home to NASA‘s Johnson Space Center where everyone will have an educational and entertaining experience. The San Antonio river is a great place to shop and walk along the famous Riverwalk. The Texas State Aquarium is located in Corpus Christi and the rich marine life of the Golf Coast is a great draw for families.

 

Pack your golf clubs as keen golfers can experience the rush of the green at any number of top courses while the shopper can spend the day shopping at one of the huge malls; in Texas everything is bigger and better! Those seeking pure adventures through trekking, climbing and hiking can visit the mountains and those who are familiar with horses can live the cowboy dream! Saddle up, don your ten gallon hat and make like a cowboy for the day. There are also cowboy ‘experience’ stays available at the local dude ranches, where all the family can immerse themselves in this culture, complete with get-togethers around the campfire.
