Rachid Bellack/ABACA/PA

The male master of androgyny (David Bowie) was portrayed by the female master of androgyny (Tilda Swinton) at the opening of an exhibit dedicated to the retro pop singer. Exploring everything from his songwriting to his fashions should ensure the stars are out tonight... Bad joke? Sorry.

GIRLS MEETS BOY?: When the who’s who of London comes together on Wednesday night for the opening of “David Bowie Is,” the Victoria & Albert’s retrospective of Bowie’s career, the svelte, sharp cheek-boned, strawberry blonde figure surrounded by admirers may not be the man of the hour. According to industry sources, Tilda Swinton, who appears in Bowie’s video for his latest single “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” will be impersonating Bowie in his absence.

Party organizers couldn’t confirm whether Bowie would actually be at the gala and the museum is keeping mum about Swinton’s planned outfit for the evening. Read More at WWD
