Excessive dietary fat has a bad effect on the body and its functions and shedding them helps in reducing cholesterol levels and also lowers the risks of heart attack and stroke. Human body needs six vital elements to stay healthy. These are protein, carbohydrates, water, fats, vitamins and minerals. Vitamins like A, D, E, and K have a significant role to play for a healthy cell growth and repair but these must be supported by fat to be able to utilized. Any low fat diet generally encourages you to trim down on carbohydrates, proteins, and fats thus stealing your body of all the vital ingredients to survive. A diet rich in carbohydrates may lead to diabetes and a diet focused on protein may lead to osteoporosis and liver problems. Thus a judicious portion of both is the secret to a healthy and fit body. 

Bad fats like trans and saturated fats can augment your chances of heart disease and stroke and good fats like polyunsaturated and monosaturated fats can reduce it. Fatty acids like Omega-3s help in raising HDL levels of cholesterol to guard the heart against disease.

Thus a well-balanced diet is necessary for keeping fit and healthy. Judiciously decreasing the dietary fat intake is an appropriate ways to help in gradual weight reduction. Instead of blindly following what diet pills have to offer, it’s better to choose the option that is best for your body’s health.
