While not entirely new to the scenes, all-in-one 3D printers have been recently used to create many luxury objects, including fashionable shoes. 3D printers have been around for some time, but only recently they’ve been largely used in fashion and design fields. Thanks to their multi-functional features, these innovative technological tools have created a variety of luxury objects that have already surprised many of us. If you haven’t heard about these latest inventions, here is the list of the main objects you’ve missed so far:

3D Gold-Plated Shoes

Iris Van Herpen and Rem D Koolhaas, two famous fashion and shoe designers, have presented their 3D printed shoes in 2013 during Paris Fashion Week. The dramatic shape of the shoes, reminiscent of tree roots, has inspired other designers to follow the trend. Among these is Francis Bitonti, a New York-based designer, who has created gold-plated 3D printed shoes that have brought the whole 3D printing deal to the next level. Officially called “Mutatio,” these shoes feature leather uppers with 3D printed platform heels.

3D Printed Dress

When it comes to the use 3D printing in fashion industry, the options are becoming endless. New York designer Michael Schmidt and architect Francis Bitonti have created a 3D printed dress for Dita Von Teese, a famous burlesque dancer. Draped over a nude silk corset, this black-lacquered dress is cinched in at the waist and exaggerated at the shoulders. On top of that, 12,000 Swarovski crystals make this dress a real 3D printed gem.

3D Printed Jewelry

This might not be quite surprising, but this is not the first time that an all-in-one 3D printer has been used to made a unique piece of jewelry. Starting from rings to pendants, many designers, including Lionel T. Dean, have already launched their 3D printed gold collections. The main advantage of using 3D printing technique, compared to the traditional ways, is the possibility of creating absolutely unique forms and shapes.
