Travel to Bath for a Bookworm's Vacation

"One man's way may be as good as anothers, but we all like our own best." -Jane Austen Persuasion

Perhaps Jane Austen hit the nail on the head here, especially when we come to think in terms of foreign travel.  We are sometimes loath to leave behind the normal and comfortable for something new and strange.  Maybe we need to go out on a limb and try something totally out of our character.  Why not start somewhere as simple, yet historic as Bath.  It was the home to Jane Austen for some years, and has been a popular tourist attraction since the roman empire.  As Rudyard Kipling would say, "The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it."  Strange as it may sound, and it does, it makes perfect sense.  You can smell the moisture, the fragant trees, and the restaurants if you make the trip. Which is well worth it.

The city of bath contains ample attractions to draw in a crowd of nearly 4.4 million tourist a year.  The city has many venues for the many different personalities of the people that visit such as a sucessful rugby team, a soccer team, the famous heating spas (known for their legendary healing powers), not to mention their various selection of museums and of course restaurants.

If this doesn't attract you, maybe you still don't think the trip overseas worthwhile, perhaps you are a bookworm.  Well then Bath should be the first thing on your bucket list.  The city pays its tribute to one of its most famous citizens in Jane Austen.  Every September there is a Jane Austen festival, which is sure to strike the bookworm's fancy.

If the before noted attractions weren't enough you could visit the place for its sheer beauty and inspiration.  An aspiring writer and artist could find much to study and think about overseas.  Bath is only one of many places where the amazing author found material for two great books, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.  Sometimes we need to leave the comfort of our everyday lives and realize there is beauty outside of our normal routine.
