San Francisco reconfirmed its place among the top foodie destinations in the world with two new restaurants in the area receiving top Michelin awards for menus filled with culinary masterpieces. This October, Benu, led by chef Corey Lee, and Saison, led by Chef Joshua Skenes, were awarded three stars for “exceptional cuisine where diners eat extremely well, often superbly.” While both previously held the two-star distinction, this year it seems they have stepped up their game and the Michelin reviews took notice. Both in the SoMa district, the two restaurants are the now the only establishments in the city with such a prestigious honor, the other Bay-Area three-star eateries being The French Laundry in Yountville and The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa. Only these four restaurants in the Bay Area have this top rating with six other restaurants holding two Michelin stars and 30 with one star.
