Watford is ideally situated as a tourist park and ride for central London and all its attractions. The town is just off the M25 and M1 motorways, has an excellent rail connection into the city of London and is not that far down the road from Luton and Stansted Airports.

Watford - London's Park & Ride

Tourists looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of travelling around central London could well find that locating themselves in Watford, 20 miles outside with a well-connected commuter network, makes a great deal of sense. Staying in Watford means that with relative ease you are able to see a West End show, the castles and cathedrals of London, take a trip on the Eye or a cruise on the Thames.

The reliable and speedy transport links make Watford an ideal base from where you can painlessly travel into the capital for fine dining, events and concerts. The main venues of Wembley Arena, Earls Court or the O2 Arena are all within easy reach. While major sporting events like Wimbledon, Twickenham or international football at Wembley Stadium are only a stones throw away.

Watford’s attractions

Watford itself makes for a pleasant place to tour around after a night at the theatre, there is the pretty rural escape of Cassiobury Park. The grounds are all that remain of the Cassiobury House and estate after the big house was demolished in the 1920’s. However the peaceful waters of the River Gade and the calm Grand Union Canal pass through the grounds, which are covered in a marvellous wooded habitat for the native wildlife and a popular spot for bird watching, walking and relaxing.

Watford has its own little theatre, the Watford Palace Theatre and there is Bushey Museum & Gallery detailing the history and development of the area, along with a nice collection of notable artworks. There is also a good selection of shops, markets and pubs or restaurants to sample.
