Ask The Lounge
Would you consider buying a luxury vehicle that is 100% electric powered today? If no, why not?

Right now the only viable option is the Tesla S. I think Infiniti has the right idea with its projection of dedicated charging stations at dealers, I'm waiting for the first accounts of all-electric cross-country.

Probably not. Not enough charging stations for long distance travel. I own a hybrid and thats good for me at the moment.

Randy commented on April 29, 2012

Sure, but not as my primary vehicle. The Tesla Roadster is a lot of fun to drive and has a decent range for planned trips.

CoLoR349 commented on April 28, 2012

At this time I would have to say NO. My biggest concern with the electric powered vehicle is the limited mileage.

Jackie commented on April 27, 2012

No, because most electric cars have a limited mileage range which is not convenient for long road trips. I drive to OC from L.A once a week; that's over 100 miles in a day

Allen commented on April 27, 2012

Probably not, because many of the "luxury" options require electricity to operate and that would kill the battery of 100% electric car.

James Rothaar commented on April 27, 2012

No; not at this time, I need to know factually that it is at least as dependable as a hybrid or an old-school petroleum-powered car. I am not yet 100% certain. Since I was selected by Infiniti to collaborate on how to market its first all-electric car, my curiosity toward this technology has piqued tenfold.
