After opening up to the world about her intentions to transition into a female in the now-famous interview with Diane Sawyer, it seems that Bruce Jenner is happier than ever—and finally introducing Caitlyn to the world. This month Caitlyn Jenner is making her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair and looking absolutely gorgeous in a white bustier and tousled hair. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the cover photo will be accompanied by a 22-page story detailing Jenner’s transition and struggle with her identification. Images of the cover came just hours after step-daughter Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy announcement, and were already creating more buzz than the upcoming West baby.
The cover is Jenner’s way of introducing herself to the world, now that her gender reassignment surgery is complete. It’s a bold look, and the first time the public has seen Jenner as a fully-transitioned female. Since the release of the cover, she has started her own Twitter account (@Caitlyn_Jenner) and in less than a day has been shown an amazing outpouring of support in the form of over 951,000 followers.
“This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving you a ‘that a boy, Bruce,’ pat on the back, okay. This is about your life,” she told Vanity Fair. “As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out—I’m free.”
