New York Fashion Week is over, but Refinery 29 was good enough to cull through the shows and let fashionistas who didn't make it to the tents in on all the trends you can expect to be wearing come fall.
We also saw some leather skirts and not all are created equal. Designers like Rachel Comey, Tommy Hilfiger, Vena Cava and Marc Jacobs found new ways to style skirts, making them look as appropriate for a schoolgirl, as well as a toned-down vamp.
Then there's the return of the poncho. Not just for Ugly Betty, the poncho has become an upscale must-have thanks to new details and fabrics that make them super luxe.
New skirt lengths have also made a debut with lengths slipped below the knee, but up-to-there slits left plenty of room for sex appeal in collections from Jenni Kayne, Preen, Altuzara and Jeremy Laing.
Taking a cue from the tuxedo were several different androgynous looks. Menswear for women has been around for a few seasons now and designers like Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Yigal Azrouel and Ralph Lauren made it even fancier by borrowing details from the male tuxedo.
