Shot by fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld, the new Fendi Fall/Winter 2013-14 campaign features breathtaking shots with leading ladies Cara Delevingne and Saskia De Brauw. Captured above the Roman city skyline, the iconic furs and leather bags popped on a backdrop of cathedral domes and dusky horizons. “We sought to celebrate the love between Fendi and Rome with a very feminine campaign evoking a chic and modern Roman holiday” Karl Lagerfeld said of the shoot. Having been with the company since 1965, Lagerfeld easily shows tribute to the brand’s Italian origin through the photos.
With bright pinks, multi-tonal furs and modern shapes the collection is quite stunning, even without the breathtaking views in the background. Every piece is trimmed in fur (even the fuzzy orange sunglasses) making for an entirely modern look, a literal clashing of the classic and contemporary. While furs striped in lime greens, fiery oranges and florescent pinks may not be reminiscent of Fendi’s classic pieces, it makes a statement nonetheless.
Styled by Charlotte Stockdale, the heavy furs and knits look light and fun on it models Cara and Saskia. With hair by Sam McKnight and makeup by Peter Phillips, the photos transcend the bustling city streets to show the romantic tranquility of Roman beauty.
