Tom Ford RTW Spring 2014: How His Collection Won Us Over

I told myself not to write about Tom Ford’s runway show. He doesn’t need more coverage does he? We already know he’s great. But after seeing his new Spring collection during London Fashion Week, what started as an internal struggle became a full-fledged war. What finally won me over was the line of mirrored dresses he sent down the runway at the end of his show, and as much as I hate to admit it—I’m a sucker for anything shiny. Tom Ford
Definitely an improvement over the puffy jacket, animal print, fringe-you-can-get-tangled-up-in disasters from Fall 2013, the beginning of the Spring 2014 collection was seemingly similar to his American brethren—black, white and cutouts all over. But it soon had its own distinctive look: chic rock-n-roll with an edge. Personally, I think if you were looking for the perfect collection—you just found it. Tom Ford
Heavy leather, structured jackets and spidery lace gives the collection a badass attitude that oozes sex appeal—very Tom Ford. Accessories from chain heels to feathered bags came down the runway, and while I used to think thigh-highs were trashy, the mosaic and net boots the models wore were anything but.Tom Ford
Now, as much as I love shine, it has to be done well—I don’t particularly want to sport anything that’s a throwback to my pre-teen years of eye glitter and sparkly butterfly clips. But this—is it an overstatement to say it’s a work of art? Tom Ford
The intricate details on the lacing and stained glass-esque pieces of these garments are nothing short of phenomenal. And sure, the models didn’t look like they could move comfortably, but honestly, who cares when you look that fabulous? Tom Ford
