The space being used for the new collaboration has previously been a part of Comme des Garçons' one-off retail ventures with Louis Vuitton and Japanese Vogue.
"We have a long history with Moncler," said Comme des Garçons chief executive officer Adrian Joffe, who was there with Rei Kawakubo and Moncler president Remo Ruffini. "And since this is an event store, we're always looking for somebody to do a project with."
The collaboration has been named Comme des Garçons' Moncler 365, as it will last for one year. Nearly all the products are black, including a nylon jacket with knit squares on the pockets, a Moncler style that has been customized by Comme des Garçons, selling for $1,147 at current exchange. Other pieces include Moncler products handpicked by Kawakubo, an edited selection of Comme des Garçons pieces and a selection of products from other brands. In July, the store will offer a complete collaboration collection designed by Kawakubo and made by Moncler.
"I think the collection will be received very well," said Joffe. "People are already very upset that they can't get it anywhere else."
