Chopard Celebrates the Legacy of Marilyn Monroe at Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is always the spot for international glamour. This year, the festival will celebrate film legend Marilyn Monroe fifty years after her passing. Festival partner, jeweler Chopard is paying homage to Monroe in several ways: unveiling a series of 25 unpublished photographs of the star by Milton H. Greene, as well as a jewelry collection that honors her beauty designed by Caroline Scheufele, artistic director and co-president of Chopard.

Fashion photographer Milton H. Greene had a friendship with Monroe and the images showcase both Marilyn's beauty as well as the soft vulnerability that made her so irresistible. The exhibition will be held during the Cannes Film Festival and will be followed by a worldwide tour lasting the rest of the year.

Monroe remains forever associated with diamonds and Caroline Scheufele drew on Monroe's glittering inspiration to create a necklace that is an exuberant arrangement of heart-shaped diamonds, briolettes and brilliants in white gold. The Marilyn Monroe Tribute Set includes the necklace and matching earrings which are also set with brilliants, briolettes, and heart-shaped diamonds. The impressive set uses over 210 carats in diamonds. The necklace will be worn by Eva Herzigova on the Festival opening night red carpet on May 16.

The Marilyn Forever exhibit also launches on Wednesday, May 16. The 25 photographs will be available for the public to preview at Cannes at the Chopard Lounge at Hotel Martinez by request to the brand before touring the world to various Chopard boutiques. On May 24 Chopard will auction off one of the photographs in conjunction with amfAR with all proceeds benefiting the organization which is dedicated to the support of HIV/AIDS research.
