Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Ulysse Nardin announced they had a “big” name to represent the company as new brand ambassador. Baseball legend Randy “The Big Unit” Johnson, five-time Cy Young award winner, has recently teamed up with the 166-year-old watch maker.

The CEO of Ulysse Nardin, Patrik Hoffmann, shared the news on June 4, 2012 at Diamondback Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona during a charity event for The Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute. Not only will Johnson be the brand ambassador, but he will also be the first person in the U.S. to have a timepiece made for him.

“Randy Johnson is a Ulysse Nardin enthusiast and is the epitome of excellence on the pitcher’s mound,” said Hoffmann. “As a company, our quest is to be exceptional, and we are thrilled to be teaming up with an American sports icon, who understands our pledge to innovative watchmaking.”

The “Big Unit” watch is currently in production and will not be seen until the fall, and not sold in select stores until late 2012 or early 2013. “I am honored to be an ambassador for a company and brand that offers watch lovers like me perfection in quality, utility and style,” said Johnson. “I am a huge fan of Ulysse Nardin’s timepieces, and am really looking forward to wearing the limited-edition ‘The Big Unit’ watch.” Visit Ulysse-Nardin.ch to learn more.
