Limited Edition Timepiece From Audemars Piguet

Luxury Watches: The road that connects New York City dwellers with the sunny Hamptons stretches for only 100 miles; it is known as the Montauk Highway. The famed asphalt is well-known for transporting luxury vacation-goers from the everyday city life to the beachfront. Now, one of our favorite watchmakers, Audemars Piguet, has designed a watch that represents this transition with timeless style.

The Royal Oak Offshore Montauk Highway timepiece embodies the spirit of a weekend escape to the beach. Its characteristics and unparalleled mechanical movement, paired with the spirit of the Hamptons makes this watch a testimony to both technology and trend.

A practice in color theory, the dial is paired with rich chocolate brown secondary counters with a subtle off-white Méga Tapisserie guilloche pattern in the background. Surrounding these is the bright, aqua blue tachymeter scale and lighter numerals, seconds hand and counter pointers.

True to its relatives in the Royal Oak Offshore line, Montauk Highway has been built with both functionality and adventure in mind, all the while making a high visual impact.

The steel case is polished to a soft finish, leaving the octagonal bezel with slightly rounded edges. Black rubber seals on the crown and pushers ensure water resistance up to 100 meters. The in-house developed automatic chronograph caliber 3126/2840 (based on the caliber 3120) is afforded exceptional protection against the elements.

Offered exclusively at Audemars Piguet boutiques in New York City and Bal Harbour as well as London Jewelers on Long Island, the Royal Oak Offshore Montauk Highway will be produced in a limited series of only 300 numbered pieces; it will retail for $20,500.

To top-off the immaculate construction of the watch, it is sold in a presentation box finished in the Riva Boat style. The case is constructed out of five different timbers, shaped to resemble a hull and bridge with metallic angles. Finally, lining the box is Black Napa leather, chosen for its suppleness and durability.

Audemars Piguet, which is on the eve of celebrating 135 years leading the watch making industry, has brought collectors and critics alike some of the most innovative and advanced technology in watch design for decades. Audemars Piguet Renaud et Papi Manufacture, where all the watches are designed and built in Le Locle, continues to produce watches that push the envelope of design and mechanics; the special edition Royal Oak Offshore Montauk Highway timepiece gives that same envelope a considerable nudge.
