With American Airlines having recently merged with US Airways, the airline is ready to compete with major carriers like United and Delta. Fliers of AA and US Airways can expect plenty of changes coming up from the acquisition, from upgraded in-flight products and cabin seats to an increase in routes and plenty of new planes. american airlines us airways merger
American Airlines assures that the merger will mean more flight choices. They plan on improving schedule options and worldwide connectivity through over 6,700 daily flights to 336 locations in 56 countries. According to the brand, they will "have the most service across the East Coast and Central regions of the U.S.." They will be maintaining all of their current hubs so you won't have to worry about your usual flight route being altered, whether you fly AA or US. The loyalty programs (American Airlines AAdvantage and US Airways Dividend Miles) will also be combined so you won't lose any frequent flier miles or points. american airlines us airways merger
"The combined company is expected to offer members more opportunities to earn and burn miles from an expanded global network of routes and partnerships, unmatched redemption options including flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, one-way awards and lounge memberships, and much more," says Suzanne Rubin, AAdvantage President. american airlines us airways merger
Perhaps more popular of an issue is in-air amenities and what you can expect once the merger is finalized. The new AA "will benefit from landmark agreements with Airbus and Boeing, designed to transform the new American Airlines fleet over the next four years and solidify its fleet plan into the next decade." The airline is planning on gaining over 600 new aircraft in the next four years, many of which will feature advanced in-seat entertainment systems with plenty of programming, Wi-Fi, and "Main Cabin Extra" seating that will give four to six extra inches of legroom. The new Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus 321 Transcontinental aircraft will feature "fully lie-flat, all-aisle access premium seating" in Business Class — they plan on being the first airline to offer fliers lie-flat seats in both First and Business Class on transcontinental flights. american airlines us airways merger
Other perks include luxury amenity kits (featuring a quilted bed topper, a duvet, pillows, slippers, pajamas, and Dermalogica skincare products), award-winning fine wines, plenty of snacks, and personalized fine dining. american airlines us airways merger
