Piper Aircraft Delivers First PiperSport

Aircraft: Piper Aircraft recently delivered its first PiperSport model to three co-owners in Miami Beach. The company is hopeful that the two-seat entry-level aircraft will attract new customers to its brand, according to the company's CEO Kevin J. Gould.

"The PiperSport is an amazing entry-level aircraft that will bring new customers to Piper," Mr. Gould said. "It fits perfectly into our overall mission of delivering the very best airplanes. It will lead the way for customers to step up into more sophisticated and higher performance aircraft within our line over time.".

There are three versions of the aircraft available: the PiperSport, the PiperSport LT, and the PiperSport LTD, priced at $119,900, $129,900, and $139,900, respectively. Each model is equipped with a 100-hp Rotax 912 engine and a BRS complete aircraft parachute recovery system.

Delivery of Piper's six-seat VLJ, the PiperJet, is expected to begin the second quarter 2013. The deluxe aircraft is priced at $2.199 million. The company, which has its headquarters in Vero Beach, Fla., has had more than 160 models certified in its high-flying 72-year history.

Prepare for takeoff: Piper's three-pack of six-seat single-engine piston aircraft, the Mirage, the Matrix, and the Seneca V. All three have similar specs and sell for less than $1 million.
