Remembering Robin Williams One Year Later With Rare Animated Interview Clip

Photo/Video Credit: Blank on Blank/PBS Digital Studios

It may seem like it just happened yesterday, but it has officially been one year since the genius Robin Williams left us. The beloved comedian and actor was only 63 when he took his own life on August 11, 2014 and the news hit the public like a smack in the face. To pay tribute to the man and his innate ability to lighten our souls with comedy, Blank on Blank made Robin Williams on Masks late last year. “We wanted to create an animated interview short that shed a light on both his brilliant, rapid-fire, comedic mind, as well as his sensitivity and concern for the world around him. We found the perfect outtakes—vintage Robin Williams—in two interviews recorded by Lawrence Grobel for a story he wrote for Playboy magazine in 1992,” says the ongoing PBS series. Bouncing from predicting what the world will be like in 2020 to why comedy is so important, the video is the perfect way to remember the man’s quick wit and tender heart.
