Tech: The MacBook Air is here and available online and at brick-and-mortar Apple stores in a community near you. This ultra-compact notebook computer is slim and light yet capable of doing the workload of computers that outweigh it by pounds. The unit's all-flash storage capability gives it heavyweight power in a sleek unit that comes in 11-inch and 13-inch screen models. It is priced from $999.

The MacBook Air offers five to seven hour battery life and can remain in sleep mode for up to 30 days. Its multitouch track pad also is another feature Apple's hopeful consumers will love. It offers five convenient options that make various tasks, such as surfing, cutting and pasting, dragging, and so forth, simpler.

The notebook computer weighs less than three pounds and has Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor, which is the same one used in Apple's top-of-the line 13-inch MacBook Pro. The MacAir Book's two USB 2.0 ports provide connectivity options. The unit also connects easily to a projector, or an HDTV.
