Nowadays it takes a little more than spas and golf courses to make a luxury resort impressive. Aside from the perfect location, an establishment needs something a little extra and Baha Mar thinks they have exactly that. Set to open in December 2014, Baha Mar has 284 residences up for grabs in their single-phase resort (which is apparently the largest in the history of the Caribbean and the largest in development in the whole Western Hemisphere), and the homes will be stewarded by not one, not two, but three luxury hotels. Currently under construction in Nassau, The Bahamas, this $3.5 billion development is designed to take advantage of the white sand beach it sits on, with all the homes offering beautiful views. The residences fill the three hotels, each touting a different lifestyle. If you're looking for a Bahamian experience, check out the Rosewood. With your choice between one-, two- and three-bedroom homes and four-bedroom villas, each of the 92 residences are in close proximity to the beach and have private terraces that look out onto the water. Living here will also get you exclusive access to the private lounge and pool areas, as well as Rosewood's Sense spa.
Mondrian has 107 designer dwellings (one to three bedrooms) that intend to bring a sense of glamour and excitement. These urban-chic homes also come with private terraces, as well as the use of a private pool and the ESPA destination spa. If you fancy yourself an artist, you may want to check out one of the 85 residences for sale at the Grand Hyatt. The hotel, which features a more business-chic style, includes a convention center with a performing arts area and its own art gallery.
The centerpiece of the development, the Baha Mar Casino & Resort features a 100,000-square-foot casino that apparently rivals those in Las Vegas. This hotel allows owners to be right in the middle of all the action. Members of the Residence Club will be able to enjoy bespoke concierge services, including a personal concierge to make dinner reservations, spa and golf course bookings, and plan local excursions.
Living at Baha Mar will certainly come with perks, aside from the beach. There will be an 18-hole, 72-par championship Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, more than 30 restaurants, a nightclub designed by Kravitz Design (who will also design the interiors of the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel Ultra Villa — the biggest villa in the hotel), bars, designer retail boutiques, 14 different pool choices and a private island.
Prices start at $1.5 million and to help offset costs, the owners can rent their homes for up to 365 days per year.
