All luxury homes should come complete with a personal sauna, but building one inside the house is so 2010—especially if you live on the water. Wanting to design something a little different, goCstudio dreamed up the floating wa_sauna and took to Kickstarter last year to make their concept a reality. As of last week, the company announced that construction on the project has finally finished, and after passing rounds of tests, it can now be spotted floating in Seattle’s lakes.
“The purpose of the sauna is to create a place of refuge for locals, to give them a new perspective on their city and provide a space to relax, reflect and reinvigorate out on the water,” says goCstudio. Registered as a vessel in Washington, the $20,000 sauna is propelled by an electric trolling motor and is heated by a wood burning stove. Though it isn’t available for use yet, goCstudio promises that they are working on sharing it with their Kickstarter supporters.
The wa_sauna may be planned for the Seattle community, but we wouldn’t be surprised if waterfront luxury hotels, resorts and homeowners looked to goCstudio to create their own floating saunas.
