Themed Watches: The Porsche Design P-6530 Titanium Chronograph resurrects a classic timepiece. Offered in a limited run of only 911 pieces, the new watch has its case and bracelet made entirely from titanium. The only difference, really, from the previous model is its diameter.
From 42 mm, the watch now measures 44 mm. This chronograph was actually the first watch in the exclusive new Heritage collection. Each of the new pieces features a scratch-resistant, double-sided, non-reflective sapphire crystal. They’re also waterproof up to 60 meters (six atmospheres). The time, weekday, and date are seen on the dial.
A tachymeter scale is inscribed on the back of the crystal. Allowing speeds of between 55 and 300 km/h. Computed in conjunction with the red second’s hand, located at 9 o’clock. Powering the Heritage P´6530 is the ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph caliber, and it offers a power reserve of 48 hours.
The Heritage P´6530 is inspired by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s. It aims to make products that can act as “companions through life.” In the early 60s, the creator of the legendary Porsche 911 supposedly said, “When you think about the function of something, its design sometimes emerges of its own accord.”
Purchasing a Heritage P´6530 Titanium Chronograph means that you get to go home with a certificate of precision issued by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The chronograph is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2010. It is said to have an RRP of 3,900 euros.
