Many luxury auto brands are making electric cars not only environmentally responsible, but also super cool, while motorcycles are still pretty reliant on gasoline to power them. Though late last year the first all-electric sport motorcycle was unveiled by Mission Motorcyles, the market is still pretty unclaimed, which is why Quebec-based Lito Green Motion is hoping their SORA can dominate the field.
According to the company, the machine is a unique type of motorcycle that is half custom and half sport bike. "The revolutionary SORA features the best design elements of Bobber and Café Racer/Street Fighter bikes, combined in one innovative, zero-compromise electric superbike. The Bobber influence can be seen in the rear fender that is fixed to the wheel, while the Street Fighter influence can be seen in the dynamics of the front of the bike," says the company.
The wheel base apparently makes the ride agile and comfortable, on both urban circuits and highways. Since it's all electric, there are pretty much no moving parts to make the bike vibrate and shake the way gasoline-powered ones do. You can ride for around 120 miles in the city and 60 on the highway before needing to recharge the 12 kWh lithium-ion battery (which is built to last the life of the bike), can reach speeds up to 118mph and get from zero to 60 in 4.7 seconds.
Starting at $49,900, SORA has an integrated GPS with a touch screen and a patented Safe Range System, which lets you know how much energy it needs to get you to your destination, so you won't have to worry about running out of juice.
Available in maroon, white or black (custom colors are an option at an extra cost), the bike's chassis is made from carbon fiber and aluminum.
