Exclusive, Expensive and Only Twelve In Production: The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar Roadster
The dimensions of the 2021 Bentley Mulliner Bacalar define what Ultra High Net Worth means to this high-end automobile manufacturer and twelve buyers. The Bacalar is one of the most exclusive and expensive cars to be launched this year; only twelve will be made, each priced at just over $1.9 million, before options and taxes, and each one has already been purchased. The Bacalar is produced in the world’s first certified carbon neutral factory for luxury car production. Its design includes a wrap-around cockpit and semi-enclosed rear compartment. The dashboard is cut from Riverwood, a sustainable wood taken from naturally fallen trees preserved for 5,000 years in peat bogs found in the Fenlands of East Anglia, England.
It has a roofless design, and is the result of collective interaction between the Bentley Mulliner design team and each individual customer, as the models are handcrafted, according to the individual customer’s personal tastes. At the heart of the Bacalar is Bentley’s 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine, balanced with a technically-advanced drivetrain. The Roadster’s dual-clutch, eight-speed transmission offers faster, more efficient gear changes and an adaptive chassis uses Bentley’s 48-volt Dynamic Ride System to ensure a responsive ride and exceptional handling in all conditions.
Bentley has called the Bacalar the "most exclusive and bespoke Bentley of the modern era.” Surely, among the rarest also.
