The company moved its manufacturing facility to the Tiara S2 shipyard in Holland, Michigan, from a Holland-based shipyard in April 2011. With two ships currently being manufactured monthly at the new shipyard, the company is more than satisfied with how things are progressing since the move.
“We are so very pleased at the quality and experience that S2 has been able to so very quickly bring to bear on our Z 44, said Chris Holtzheuser, president of Zeelander USA. “The focus and passion of S2 has been evident from our very first discussions a year ago. We are well ahead of our original schedule thanks to their efforts.”
The Z 44 is approximately 44 feet in overall length and has a beam just over 13 feet. The lightweight, composite-built hull can haul at a maximum speed between 34 and 38 knots with twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines powering it. Designed by Zeelander’s Cor D. Rover and built by S2 Yachts, the 44-footer sleeps up to four with two cabins.
MarineMax Yacht & Brokerage is the exclusive marketing representative in the U.S. for the Dutch-designed yacht brand. The company plans to stock Z 44s at 12 retail locations by the year’s end. The recreational boat and yacht retailer has 54 showrooms in 19 states.
“The MarineMax team is very excited about the Z 44 partnership,” said Bob Fritsky, VP of MarineMax. "S2, Zeelander USA and MarineMax have been able to seamlessly integrate a complex move from Europe to the USA while making a smart European product U.S.-compliant, U.S.-sourced, and U.S.- serviced. It is ideal for our clients, quite literally the best of both worlds.” The Z 44 can be seen at the Palm Beach Boat Show from March 22 to March 25, 2012.
