Dog Days of Luxury: The Ritz-Carlton Dog Walking Program

News & Trends: If you miss your furry best friend while you enjoy spending time at Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman resort The , fear not. A recently introduced program at the elegant hotel and resort allows guests the chance to walk adorable doggies and make a charitable donation to the Humane Society.

For US $25, guests can take precious pooches on a stroll around mapped out routes along the Blue Tip Golf Course or near the North Sound Club.

Marcus Caudill, Housekeeping Manager and owner of Humane Society alum named Charlie, designed the program, "We knew our guests would enjoy taking the dogs out, but had no idea how successful the program would be. On busy days we've even had waiting lists for the walking slots. One guest enjoyed her outing so much, she handed me a check for $1,000 for the Humane Society afterward."

The program is also open to local residents as well as visitors to the island who are not staying at the Ritz-Carlton. The goal of the popular program is to find permanent homes to the deserving animals that are guests of the Humane Society and is one of many community projects offered by the Ritz-Carlton.

"The Humane Society makes it quite an easy process for visitors to adopt dogs and take them home," explains resort Vice President and General Manager Franz Ferschke, "We are looking into attractive leashes that say "Adopt Me" and even working with the owners of Animal House who have generously agreed to groom any dog who gets adopted through the program so they are ready to go to their new homes."
