Families visiting Macau can now entertain their young jetsetters with the Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central's and gaming mecca’s new Junior Hotelier program launching on April 4. The curriculum lets little ones take hands-on roles behind the scenes at the world’s largest, most luxurious Sheraton property.

Designed for four- to 12-year-olds, the afternoon playtime encourages kids to dress up and make-believe they’re operating a resort with fun guidance from the hotel’s culinary, front desk, and housekeeping teams. For their jobs the moppets get to wear special Jr. Hotelier uniforms: a chef apron and hat, barman gloves and bowtie, housekeeping apron, or guest agent hat. Then they’ll spend two hours lending a hand for their food and beverage roles such as Junior Barman or Chef, and Rooms division positions of Junior Agent or Housekeeper.

Each Jr. Hotelier completes simple tasks under the tutelage of the property’s staff. Richard Lao, Chef de Partie, for instance, will lead the Junior Chefs children in baking and decorating cookies. The hotel’s expert barmen will teach mini-trainees how to make and create original mocktails. Junior Agents will practice their best “please and thank you” manners learning how to check in guests, handle their luggage, and set up a room for a special occasion. The hotel’s housekeeping staff will make kids giggle as they fold towels into a menagerie of animal shapes, and they’ll make parents happy by showing the little mess-makers how to properly make their beds.

After completing four duties, each Junior Chef, Barman, Agent, and Housekeeper earns a certificate, “I am a Sheraton Macao Junior Hotelier” t-shirt, Sheraton stuffed bear, DreamWorks bag, and an animal photo frame. Uniforms will be available to buy and pack to take home as well.

With the Easter Weekend launch of the program, the expansive Sheraton Macao ups the ante on its already engagingly family-friendly classes and amenities. Sheraton Macao’s 893-square-foot, two-bedroom two-bath family suites feature a kid’s room with bunk beds, a Wii game console, DVD player, toys, craft table and child-sized robes and slippers.

For kids who want everything, the DreamWorks Themed Family Suite Package (from HKD $2,888 for a family of four) includes a family suite plus a DreamWorks Experience Welcome Kit, Dragon Training Camp tickets, unlimited movies, and parent-friendly perks like a CotaiJet ferry ticket to or from Hong Kong, or a spa and restaurant voucher. And for the child in everyone, there’s the best family experience in town: Shrekfast, the world’s only DreamWorks themed restaurant-theater, featuring a lavish international buffet, stage show, and meet-and-greet photo opportunities with characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, and the rest of the DreamWorks gang.
