Quebec City Luxury Stay: Hotel 71

Located within a historic bank building of years past, the space has been reimagined into a luxury boutique hotel in Quebec City. Hotel 71, a Preferred Hotel & Resort, is big on charm, ideally situated, and a contemporary stay in Quebec; one you’re sure to “je me souviens” (the Quebec City motto, literally translated to I Remember).

Quebec is alive with activity, history and culture. Nestled on the banks of the river, Hotel 71 is walking distance to cultural attractions, fine dining, and a plethora of shopping. A short stroll on the cobblestone streets takes guests to the funicular to the top of the hill, or more adventurous guests can walk the steep climb itself. Highly suggested is to hire a private tour guide for the day, showing the wide variety of dining, shopping, and museum options in the city.

Hotel 71 guests are in for an urban experience; the 60 rooms meld architectural excellence with a contemporary atmosphere for a balanced look and feel to the property. Fun accents such as the wine by the glass in the lobby lounge dispenser, or a hearty French-style breakfast are excellent ways to bookend the days.

Rooms and suites exude the same comforts, with relaxing lounge areas and superb bedding, all while looking out to the city beyond. The Penthouse Suite is home to a 600 square foot terrace to really marvel at the surrounding city. Across the street, the popular Le Musee de la Civilisation also pays homage to the city founded in the 1600s and contemporary design elements of today. Down the street, a surprising vegan restaurant, Don’s, is home to a delicious menu and funky atmosphere.

Golden Key concierge service is able to help guests make reservations, navigate the city, or offer vacation inspiration. If visiting during warmer months, complimentary bikes are available to discover the city as well.

Part of the L.V.X. collection by Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the tagline “upscale luxury with local flair” definitely fits at Hotel 71. At breakfast, we visited with the waitress who grew up in the area, chatting about what we were planning on seeing in the city. She also described the from-scratch “creton” with our breakfast, a cold pork spread paired with the marvelous freshly-baked bread. The local flair and personal touch were a wonderful way to start our day.

Comfort and style meld in the rooms at Hotel 71

The in-house restaurant Il Matto at Hotel 71 entices guests with aromas of authentic Italian comfort food. Perfect for a cold and rainy night, the pasta and soups add an extra layer of comfort; or for those with a sweet tooth a piece of Tiramisu or Bomba.

Re-emerged as a boutique chic hotel, the blending of history and today is well balanced in Hotel 71. From the friendly service and luxury touchpoints to striking accommodations and the ideal location. For rates and reservations, visit www.hotel71.ca/en
