New Pendry Newport Beach Getaway

Built in 1986 by The Irvine Company, the statuesque Orange County resort has had quite a past. The hotel was once a Four Seasons and later became the Fashion Island Hotel.

Located in the city's most desirable area, it is directly across the street from luxury shopping and International culinary fare at Fashion Island, and a few blocks from Roger's Garden, Corona del Mar Beach, Lido Marina Village, and the Back Bay.

In the lobby of the Pendry Newport Beach is the Concierge team to assist guests with various needs during their stay. Cadillac is the official vehicle of Pendry Hotels & Resorts. The partnership provides complimentary transportation within the hotel's locale.

At Pendry Newport Beach there are two Cadillac Escalades and two Cadillac XT6. The concierge is happy to assist with rental instructions to take one of the cars for a spin.

Guests can participate in the Ride & Drive Program offering guests four hours in the driver's seat to experience the luxury automaker's newest cars, while seeing the sights in Orange County.

This resort is another Eagle Four Partners, a Newport-based private equity firm that also includes the Balboa Bay Resort & Club, Newport Beach Country Club and newer Vea Newport Beach, a Marriott Resort & Spa, located just down the street. Pendry is part of Orange County’s Montage International, which has a Montage Resort is nearby Laguna Beach.

They hired Alessandro Munge, founder and design director of Studio Munge in Toronto to create the eye-catching interior design rooted in the brand’s ethos. It's sophisticated, yet understated with a sanctuary ambiance. 

There are 295 newly redesigned guest rooms at Pendry Newport Beach, including 114 suites. Many of the guest rooms have sky, palm tree, ocean, harbor and Back Bay views. Those looking out towards the front of the hotel can watch the sunset behind Catalina Island.

At the outdoor pool with sundeck guests are offered towel set up, and a food and beverage menu throughout the day. Pool cabana rentals come with dedicated services, a television and privacy. Besides a long swimming pool, there is a large outdoor hot whirlpool with a fireplace lit in the evening. Not only does this provide additional warmth while relaxing in the warm water, it also creates a lovely ambiance.

Nearby the world-class Spa Pendry offers an exclusive menu of luxury treatments for the body, skin and wellness. The restorative platinum facial experience leaves one with firmer, brighter and luminous skin. The Pendry Signature Massage is customized to one's preference and needs. There is also a couple's treatment room to receive massages together.

Guests can also reserve Cryotherapy, a modern-day technology that boosts circulation, reduces muscle and joint pain and improves overall mental clarity.

The Spa Pendry offers an assortment of spa-infused beauty products, leisure and resort wear, elegant accessories and gift items.

Globally inspired dining with a California twist is available all day at Pendry Newport Beach. Complimentary coffee is served in the lobby with an array of freshly baked pastries that are available for purchase.

The Tree Shack Pool Bar & Grill provides an array of healthy food and festive beverages to enjoy by the pool. There are a variety of tacos, coconut tuna tartare, heart of palm ceviche, Baja Nachos and three different salads.

Besides a list of beers and wines, the bar at Tree Shack shakes up a spicy cucumber margarita, and melon spritz.

Guests can enjoy light fare and craft cocktails at the elegant Bar Pendry in the center of the hotel. This spot gets quite lively in the evening as it is a favorite venue for locals to gather before dinner.

In the evening the modern SET Steak and Sushi is a popular steakhouse and seafood destination for guests and locals. The sophisticated indoor dining room offers large booths, tables and a sushi counter.

Outdoors under the trees, the romantic dining deck is aglow in lights and candles. Acclaimed James Beard award-winning Chef Jojo Ruiz and his team prepare classic charcoal-grilled steaks, chops, and popular hand-rolled sushi, tableside tartare, and sustainable ice-cold seafood towers.

Diners can order from a variety of fresh hand-rolled sushi and specialty three-piece nigiri flights. Specialty rolls include a Surf and Turf made with Wagyu, lobster, avocado, asparagus, negi miso and garlic ponzu. The vegan Green Goddess is made with avocado, cucumber, shiso, mushroom and black garlic.

Hotel guests have complimentary access to upscale Scott e-bikes to take out for a spin from the concierge and valet stand. The concierge team will provide preferred routes to bike-friendly destinations.

Ride the Back Bay or take the bikes for a spin to Balboa Island for the quintessential Orange County Island experience.
