Part of the excitement of traveling is getting to experience the local cuisine of each new destination; likewise, part of the anxiety of traveling is trying the local cuisine…if you know what I mean. To accommodate both emotions, Discovery Adventures in partnership with Discovery Communications and G Adventures has created a trip for the ultimate foodie traveler. The Argentina & Chile Gourmet Adventure is a 12-day journey in November that highlights South American foods and wines, specifically chosen by knowledgeable tour operators.
Guests will discover the latest in epicurean travel trends and get to enjoy a variety of Latin American fare through traditional cooking classes and wine samplings in gorgeous vineyards. The tour will also make a stop at a local Planeterra project site, a non-profit organization that allows locals around the world to develop, conserve, and provide supportive solutions for their communities and environment.

The full tour starts off in Santiago, Chile and ends in Buenos Aires, Argentina with stops in Mendoza and Uruguay. On days four-six, foodies will get to explore three Mendoza wineries and a gourmet lunch before participating in a cooking class. One night will also be spent overnight at a winery where tours of the facilities and additional wine tastings will be available. Of course, there will be time for sightseeing on your own as well as active activities like hiking or cycling.
Starting at $2,999, the price includes arrival transfer, welcome gift, culinary tour of Santiago and full day tour of wineries with tastings in the Maipo Valley, Mendoza cooking class, two nights at a rural Estancia in Uruguay, visit to a culinary school with demonstrations and lunch, full day Mendoza wine tour with tastings and gourmet lunch, and overnight accommodations at one of the vineyards/wineries. While many meals are provided, some will not be covered so a suggested $450-500 dining budget is recommended.
