This 100-year-old property recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation, featuring lavish interiors created by esteemed Swiss designer Carlo Rampazzi. Open only during the winter months, from December through March, this seasonal sanctuary is truly a skier’s paradise.
The all-suite Carlton Hotel features 60 beautifully-furnished accommodations ranging from the 376-square-foot Junior Suites to the 4,155-square-foot, three-bedroom Penthouse Suite, each with their own stunning mountain or lake views. Rooms may come with plush king-size beds, separate living and dining areas, plasma TVs, granite and marble bathrooms with rain shower and separate soaking tubs, fireplaces, kitchens, balconies and personal butler service.
Two distinct fine dining restaurants are located right on property so guests don’t have to wander far to indulge in a gourmet meal. Restaurant Romanoff serves authentic Swiss cuisine including classics such as Zürcher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes, a veal stew with butter noodles and fresh vegetables, and Poulet Im Chörbli, a chicken and French fry dish topped with herb butter, as well as specialties from the Engadin region. Guests can also sit down to a memorable culinary experience at Da Vittorio. Executive Chefs, and brothers, Enrico and Roberto Cerea create menus that change daily based on the freshest available ingredients from the Lombard region of Italy.
If the serene mountain views aren’t enough to induce pure relaxation, then the Carlton Spa definitely will. The 13,000-square-foot facility features heated indoor and outdoor pools, a sun terrace, sauna with steam bath, hydro-massage showers, an ice fountain, lounge area with fireplace and quiet room, hair salon, manicure/pedicure stations, and six treatment rooms. In addition, there’s a private 376-square-foot Spa Suite complete with whirlpool, sauna, Dornbracht Rainsky shower with light therapy, and treatment areas for massage, facial, and body services.
Carlton Hotel St. Moritz offers a variety of activities to entertain guests throughout the brisk winter months from Olympic ski runs, to ice skating, cross-country skiing, bob sled, horse drawn sleigh rides, sledding, hiking, a kids and teens club, heli-skiing, and sightseeing tours by land or air. Events also take place during its open season including the Engadin Ski Marathon, Snow Polo World Cup, Concours Hippique, and the exclusive White Cup, an outdoor festival with live music, gourmet food, and art exhibitions all taking place on top of frozen St. Moritz Lake.
