Rosewood Hotels & Resorts Celebrating 30 Years

Luxury Resorts: Thirty years ago, Caroline Rose Hunt took a simple yet powerful concept and began turning it into one of the world’s most acclaimed and respected hospitality brands. Now Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has 17 iconic properties around the globe, including Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, its original hotel; The Carlyle in New York; Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos, Mexico; and Rosewood Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda. Through the years, the collection has garnered numerous guest accolades and the travel industry’s highest honors.

Community, Environment, History and Culture
For Hunt, the art of Rosewood is as much about style as quality. After she opened The Mansion in 1980, it quickly became her template for success. The Italian Renaissance-style home of cotton and oil magnate Sheppard King offered a unique setting for the Rosewood brand of hospitality. She and her children had visited Europe for many years, and preferred the small, boutique type of hotels. There were no chains that provided this type of ambiance and service, so once she realized how special The Mansion was, she hired a group of hospitality professionals to extend the idea, and that’s how Rosewood was born.

From the beginning, she wisely focused on preserving and enhancing each property’s distinguishing character based on a reverence for community, environment, history and culture—what Rosewood calls “A Sense of Place®.”

When Rosewood opens a new hotel or resort, the number one priority, besides hiring the right people, is to embrace the culture of the location and weave those cultural elements into the property at every level, from the architecture to the furnishings to the employee uniforms and the cuisine. A hotel needs to reflect where you are, whether it’s the Caribbean, Mexico or New York.

Impeccable Service and Cuisine
Under Hunt’s guidance, Rosewood has come to represent elegance without pretension, offering top amenities, unparalleled personal service and outstanding cuisine. Rosewood’s impeccable service—sensitive, but never invasive—allows them to make guests feel comfortable while attending graciously to their needs.

The Upper Echelon of Five-Star Destinations
Rosewood is the consummate example of a company whose success flows directly from the commitment, esthetic and personality of its founder. This distinction has elevated the Rosewood Collection into the upper echelon of five-star destinations for sophisticated travelers around the globe.

As Rosewood prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary, Hunt is proud of the recognition it’s received over the years and the honored brand for which it has become.
