The romance of high seas travel calls far and wide. For some celebrities, the pull to luxury travel on board decked-out ships proves too strong. Cunard’s famous Queen Mary 2 alone has seen the likes of Hillary Clinton, Sting, Beyonce and Russell Crowe. Some step on board as entertainers or guest speakers as part of themed cruises, while others are just along for the ride. But whatever the reason, they’re cruisers just like you, so even buffet trips have star-studded potential.

James Taylor

The singer-songwriter powerhouse hopped aboard the famed Queen Mary 2 for a transatlantic voyage. Taylor was the top entertainer, serenading guests with folky gems like ‘Sweet Baby James’ at two performances, and dubbing cruising ‘a fascinating way to vacation’ to USA Today.

Kid Rock is known for his blend of country, blues and rock music, unleashing hits like ‘All Summer Long’ to radios everywhere. For the last five years, he’s teamed up with Norwegian Cruise Line for the annual ‘Kid Rock’s Chillin’ the Most Cruise,’ which sails around the Bahamas and is set for future high seas festivals.

Oprah Winfrey

In 2009, TV host and all-around mega star Oprah Winfrey chartered a ship from Norwegian Cruise Line for 1,700 of her employees and their families. She opted for the chic Garden Villa suite on the 10-day journey, which cruised around the Mediterranean.

Kimberley Walsh

Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud cruised around on the Crown Princess as part of a family holiday. Walsh, accompanied by her mum, partner and siblings toured the Caribbean, not as part of the entertainment roster or as a celebrity guest star, but a cruiser indulging in a luxurious holiday.

Micky Dolenz

The Flower Power Cruise is a psychedelic experience bringing some of the top music groups from the sixties to the seas. The next cruise will set sail for Jamaica and the Bahamas, bringing onboard the top Monkee himself, Micky Dolenz, as well as groups like The Lovin’ Spoonful, Three Dog Night and the Zombies.

Robbie Coltrane

Robbie Coltrane, known not least for his role as the towering Hagrid from the Harry Potter movie franchise, has been spotted aboard the Queen Mary 2, and is vocal about his love for ships. Just recently, he launched a campaign to restore a vessel also known as the Queen Mary to Scotland as an arts and culture venue.

As cruising holidays continue to rise in popularity, more celebs can be expected to hit the high seas, because luxury is luxury, no matter what way you spin it. And where the A-listers are missing, you can slip in as the champagne-toting, spa-indulging star. We have a feeling you won't mind.
