With over 250,000 strands of lights, the Broadmoor is cheerfully ablaze with holiday wonder. The annual White Lights event at the 5-Diamond, 5-Star resort property of Colorado Springs is always well attended and this year was no exception, the ceremony this year on Saturday Nov 26th, 2011. With families from near and far joining in the annual lighting, the 26th year of the White Lights ceremony was a definite success with hundreds of smiles, cheerful music, and an astonishing lights display.
The Broadmoor Resort and Spa is exceptional in every way and the holidays are no different. From the Gingerbread Village in the main lobby—this year featuring storybook castles, sugar-spun dragons, frosted Rapunzel, and even a Shrek cave; to the interactive gingerbread house-making activities and cupcake decorating, the resort is a perfect way to get the entire family involved. The Cosmetic Shop offered “Holiday Makeup Tips” with Trish McEvoy and special VIP guest Santa and Mrs. Claus were also seen on property.
A partnership with American Cancer Society makes for a heartwarming evening as a gigantic Love Lights a Tree project glows on property. Each donation to the Society results in a red light bulb being illuminated on the towering tree, the donations representative of donations made for those living with cancer or in memory of loved ones. A portion of the $5 parking fee for the garage was also donated to American Cancer Society. Purple-hatted Santa helpers were in attendance accepting donations.
The pristine grounds of The Broadmoor make for a perfect holiday experience. Whether enjoying the grounds, a stroll along the lake, a holiday treat in the West Lobby Bar, or dinner in The Penrose Room, The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs is an absolute must for locals and visitors alike.
