The combination of Thailand’s natural beauty and its affordability draws travelers from across the globe. Those with a slim budget can easily travel long-term by staying in affordable hostels, but people looking for a luxury vacation can fund it without breaking the bank. If you’re of the latter and want a grandeur Thailand vacation, here’s a sneak peek at what this fantastic country has to offer:

Extravagant Hotels and Resorts

Thailand offers a wide variety of unique luxury hotels and resorts, so you’re guaranteed to find something to fit your needs. Some have rooms with private beaches and others are nestled high in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The possibilities are nearly endless! If you’re having a difficult time deciding, consider hiring a travel agent to help narrow down your choices.

Take a Luxurious River Cruise

This is a unique way to experience the breathtaking landscapes that Thailand has to offer, and a great way to avoid facing massive crowds of tourists. River cruises in Thailand make stops at temples, waterfalls, historic sites, and palaces with a small group of passengers, making the experience more intimate. These cruises typically last a few days, so you can easily pair this with a hotel stay to get the best of both worlds!

Breathtaking Beaches

There’s nothing better than relaxing on the beach during your vacation, and there are plenty of unique spots to do so in Thailand. Some beaches will be crowded with tourists, but the lesser-known ones will make it seem like you rented a private beach for the day. Most of the best beaches are found on the small islands off the main coastline, so you’ll have to organize a boat ride to access them.

One of these islands, Koh Libong, has fantastic white-sand beaches that many people don’t know about making for a more intimate experience. A popular “must see” beach in Thailand is Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi, which is surrounded by cliffs on three sides and has a great party scene during the day. It’s definitely worth your time to check out!

Experience Elephants Ethically

Interacting with elephants is a special experience, and Thailand is a great place to seek these magnificent creatures out. However, it’s important to learn how to do so responsibly. Since elephant tourism is in high demand, many elephant camps mistreat and abuse these grand creatures to teach them tricks that will attract more tourists. In order to avoid supporting these corrupt establishments, it’s important to do in-depth research before deciding on a camp or sanctuary. An organization called Ears Asia provides a guide to elephant camps along with a list of ethical sanctuaries.

The Best Thai Food You’ll Ever Have

Food and luxury travel compliment each other well, and if you happen to be a fan of Thai food, you’re in luck! It can be difficult to determine what each dish consists of, so do some preliminary research on traditional Asian dishes before leaving. The bigger cities like Bangkok and Samut Prakan will have a larger selection of Thai fine dining to choose from compared to the smaller villages and towns.

You’ll encounter hundreds of street food vendors during your vacation, so don’t be afraid to branch out of your comfort zone to try something that might seem a little dangerous! Thousands of tourists eat the street food and oftentimes find that it’s the best. Banglamphu in Bangkok has the best “old-style” Thai street food and Chinatown is where Thai street food originated. Give both of these a whirl and you’re guaranteed to find luxury for your tastebuds!

Treat yourself to a Thai Massage

No vacation is complete without a good dose of relaxation, and getting a Thai massage is one of the best ways to sit back and unwind. You’ll see local massage shops all over in Bangkok with chairs and footrests outside where you can get a foot massage outside and a full-body Thai Massage inside. These are great if you want to get a massage on the spot, but if you want something more upscale you’ll have to make an appointment.

Luxury travel is different for everyone. While some people want stay at a 5-star all inclusive resort on the beach, others simply want to experience a delicious meal. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, Thailand will have something perfect for you. Have fun, and happy traveling!
