Pushkar Camel Fair 2012

Pushkar Fair

Every Year during the months of October and November (at the time of Karthik Purnima full moon), the holy land of Pushkarattractslakhsof domestic and international tourists in the Annual Camel Fair. The fair that includes major attractions like camel ride, rural sports, cultural programs and the most importantly trading of camels; is going to be held from November 19-28 this year.

This 10 day enchantment will bring about many tourists from different parts of the world to experience India’s highly rated travel experience. It’s a spectacle on an epic scale attracting around 300,000 people and up to 20,000 camels, cattle and horses. This fair has fairly two components: the camel trading and religious rituals that encompasses a lifetime opportunity to witness thecolor, spectacle and carnival of a greatmela(fair) and thatsalubriouslyinvites livestock, farmers, traders and villages from all over Rajasthan.

More Interestingly, Pushkar is among one of the five sacred dhams (pilgrimage sites) for Hindu devout. The major reason is the presence of more than 400 temples including one and only temple of Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe; built in 14th century.  The devotees take a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake and worship at various temples near the ghats. This small town also becomes a cultural phenomenon when  colorfully dressed devotees, musicians, acrobats, folk dancers, traders, comedians, ‘sadhus’ and tourists throng at Pushkar fair.

And the most rewarding part of this occasion is that one can trigger a complete Rajasthan tourism along with a must visit to the Pushkar Fair. Pushkar city is very close to Ajmer which is famous for the Islamic pilgrimage site, the Dargaah Shareef. Along with that one can significantly introduce himself to the capital city of Rajasthan and one of the famous tourist attraction point, Jaipur which is at a length of139 km, where one can explore the Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal and much more. Rajasthan alone is the city of emancipation since this deserted land is also equipped with wildlife attractions like Ranthambore, Sariska, Bharatpur and Desert National Park.

A single visit to the Pushkar Camel Fair will actually introduce you to Rajasthan’s many wonders. A Golden Triangle Tour is the coolest option for a significant journey and the availability of different holiday packages will convert your heritage, religious, wildlife or leisure tour into a magnificent experience in Rajasthan.

A Pushkar Camel Fair is the only occasion to experience the cultural and religious attractions of Rajasthan. So, make necessary arrangements to visit the Annual Camel Fair in Pushkar in the coming month.
