What's Happening with the NFL in London

The NFL has an odd relationship with London, and it really seems like the city might even end up with professional (American) football team of its own. However, legalities and players might end up holding back the deal altogether, and only time will tell in this deal. What are your thoughts?

 

Roger Maslin confirmed it was “unlikely” the Football Association would demand 10-year extensions when 70 per cent of corporate seats at the stadium come up for renewal in 2017.

And he revealed he would “quite possibly” offer five and seven-year packages as an alternative to those which cost a minimum of around £50,000 when they were snapped up when Wembley opened back in 2007.

Surveys of the Club Wembley membership revealed the number of debenture holders prepared to renew for another decade was alarmingly low, with corporate customers deciding the stadium’s annual calendar of matches did not represent value for money. Read More

 

For the first time in NFL history, the NFL will stage two regular-season games in London during the same year. The first of those matchups is Sunday, when the Steelers play the Vikings.

LONDON – The NFL is sending two winless teams to Wembley Stadium on Sunday for the first of its two international series games this season, when the Minnesota Vikings face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chris Parsons, the NFL's senior vice president of international, doesn't see that as a problem.

"We've never had a game as early as Week 4 before, and that both teams are coming in with that record makes the game even more critical," Parsons told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday night. "What a huge game it's going to be on Sunday for both teams." Read More
